Community and Social

From learning new skills to undertaking studies, finding a hobby, or joining a team sport, Ask Community Support Services are here to support you in the pursuit of your passions. We are committed to helping you actively participate in your community and giving you the opportunity to realise your potential for physical, social, emotional, and intellectual growth.

We can support you to participate in activities that are important to you. This might include:

  • Sports, social groups or attending your local library
  • Assisting you to link in with an organisation for volunteering
  • Assisting you to go on a day trip / holiday
  • Assisting you with daily tasks in the community, such as shopping and banking etc.

Household Tasks

Spending time on your favourite hobby or entertaining friends and family can make time spent at home much more enjoyable. Ask Community Support Services can help you achieve this by assisting with household chores and tasks, so you can continue to live independently, doing more of the things you love, carefree.

Daily and Personal Activities

Personal care and hygiene maintenance are among the vital building blocks that contribute to healthy self-esteem which in turn, gives one the confidence to be an active participant in society. The staff at Ask Community Support Services can assist with:

  • Toileting
  • Showering/Bathing
  • Dressing
  • Grooming
  • Other general hygiene practices

Accommodation and Tenancy

A home is more than just a house. It is where we find comfort and privacy, make memories, and strengthen relationships. Our homes provide us with a safe space which is imperative for optimum mental health.

To assist you to live as independently and comfortably as possible we can help you to:

  • Attend open houses / inspections.
  • Submit rental property applications
  • Decipher tenancy agreements
  • Liaise with landlords to report any issues or maintenance concerns.
  • Address other queries and concerns as they arise.

Transportation

Community participation facilitates the formation of positive connections and meaningful engagement. It is also necessary for the establishment and maintenance of independence but we understand that access to reliable, cost-effective transportation may be a barrier that makes it difficult for you to get involved.

We can assist you to get involved in your community by:

  • Helping you to navigate public transport
  • Supporting you to attend events and community activities
  • Providing you with the support you need to go on longer trips
  • Supporting you to attend further education and training e.g. University or TAFE.

Short-term Respite

Ask Community Support Services provides short-term respite care. Respite care can be for a few hours during the day, overnight, or even for longer periods, including up to a few weeks at a time. You can* use respite care occasionally or on a regular basis.
